Peer Counselor - Research

DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY : The peer health educator will be responsible for delivering one-on-one and group sessions that will occur in-person and remotely. The peer health educator will participate in meetings and trainings and complete the health-harming legal needs screener with participants and working with collaborating attorneys. They also will assist with leading community outreach and recruitment efforts and assist with retention activities. They will provide navigation assistance for community resources, health care and insurance access for intervention participants and other agency clients. It is anticipated that the Peer health educator will work on other program development, implementation, and evaluation activities as needed.Essential Duties and Responsibilities : The peer health educator will complete training regarding the program curriculum, research training for conducting research with human subjects, Community Health Worker (CHW) program, health insurance navigation, and other trainings as assigned.Assist with community outreach and recruitment efforts.Enroll participants in the study and support ongoing retention.Deliver structured one-on-one and group sessions in-person and remotely.Conduct the health-harming legal needs assessment and work with collaborating attorneys.Document activities.Attend regular team meetings.Represent LEAP at community meetings, events, and conferences.Provide navigation assistance for community resources, health care and insurance access for LEAP participants and other agency clients.Other duties as assigned.Requirements : Candidate should have 2 plus years’ experience working with transgender, nonbinary, and gender diverse youth and young adults of color, and demonstrated connections with agencies serving the LGBTQ community.Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.Willingness to travel within site consortium jurisdiction.Able to work occasional evenings and weekends when needed for program activities.Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with colleagues, patients, clients, and vendors across the spectrum of diversity, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, color, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, socio-economic status, national origin and immigrant status, religious or spiritual identity, disability (physical, mental, emotional and developmental), veteran status, and / or limited English proficiency.Willingness to contribute towards Fenway’s efforts in becoming an anti-racist organization and promoting a culture dedicated to ongoing development in service of humility, equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging, where differences are acknowledged and valued.This is a union position in a Fenway Health bargaining unit represented by 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East.We offer competitive salaries, and for those who qualify, an excellent benefits package; including comprehensive medical and dental insurance plans, generous paid time off, commuter benefits, and more.LGBTQIA identified persons, Black, Indigenous, and other people of color (BIPOC), and individuals from other historically underrepresented communities are strongly encouraged to apply.#J-18808-Ljbffr
