Position Summary
Works under general supervision and is responsible for performing a variety of tasks in support of the Specialized Electronic Evidence Unit; to manage, retrieve, and assimilate a variety of electronically recorded evidentiary media related to the effective functioning of the Sheriff’s Office; and to perform additional tasks in maintaining the evidentiary chain of custody on all electronically recorded evidence.
Pay Grade: 48
Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education
Minimum Qualifications
1. Two (2) years of experience in computer software, installation, and/or troubleshooting and graduated from an accredited college with an associate’s degree in computer engineering technology, information technology, or related degree; OR
2. Three (3) years of experience in computer software, installation, and/or troubleshooting and graduated from a technical school in a computer information technology-related degree; OR
3. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
4. Experience in the field of video production, with the ability to shoot and edit video, and a general knowledge of multimedia is preferred.
5. Experience in local, state, or federal law enforcement or military background is preferred.
6. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Performs a variety of tasks associated with maintaining accurate records in the Specialized Electronic Evidence Unit, such as receiving, storing, maintaining, and transporting of evidence.
2. Performs a variety of tasks associated with maintaining accurate Sheriff records in various databases; inputs data regarding cases, incidents, and other related matters into the computer.
3. Review, create edit list, and redact video and audio recordings prior to release.
4. Answers the phone and directs calls; responds to inquiries for information.
5. Serves as a witness in court concerning evidence functions.
6. Downloads and updates equipment with video management software programs.
7. Maintains optical storage and archiving information.
8. Maintains agency proprietary inventory program.
9. Performs testing and configuration of Video Equipment.
10. Research, tests, and evaluates new/proposed new products.
11. Performs law enforcement and civil clerical work involving independent judgment and accuracy.
12. Works independently and effectively within established guidelines.
13. Applies learned specialized computer functions/programs.
14. Instructs the recruits and staff in the use of the existing in-car and body-worn camera recording system.
15. Manages evidentiary video recordings and therefore must sign a non-disclosure confidentiality agreement with the Sheriff’s Office.
16. Performs related responsibilities or duties as required or directed.
KSAs
1. Knowledge in the usage of PC and MAC software products, including operation systems, spreadsheet, backup/restore/diagnostic utilities.
2. Knowledge, experience, and/or education related to video cameras and other related devices.
3. Ability to display competent skills in operating and maintaining computer technology, software, and related video equipment.
4. Skilled in multitasking and organization.
5. Must be able to work independently as well as with a team.
Special Requirements
Must be able to work shifts and weekends.
