Position Summary
Works under general supervision of a Manager A to provide front line support for Youth Justice Department, specifically related to conducting screening, assessments and documentation related to case preparation for court.
Pay Grade 46
Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education
Minimum Qualifications
1. Two (2) years of counseling experience, preferably with youth; AND
2. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social science, psychology, criminal justice, behavioral sciences or related degree; OR
3. An equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.
4. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Coordinates with Judicial Office placement of juveniles with Interstate Compact Services, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and TBI Sex Offender Registry.
2. Prepares, facilitates and process orders of withdrawals to assist with driver’s licenses reinstatement.
3. Prepares and assist with various task of juvenile justice including legal documents, trial dates, maintaining dockets, scheduling all hearings, creating/organizing files if needed to be present to testify; ensuring court appointed counsel/representation authorization in all court proceedings and process files upon court dispositions for closure.
4. Schedules non-judicial conference with juveniles regarding delinquent, unruly, traffic-related, abandoned, transient allegations in/out of state youth non-compliance with court orders and walk-in clients.
5. Serves on the Summons Review Team and work directly with juvenile summons referrals and follow- up with service providers.
6. Monitors delinquency cases daily, enters dispositions and works collaboratively with the Youth Development Specialist, Electronic Monitoring Department, Judicial Office, Clinical Services, Child Welfare Division, and other outside agencies.
7. Assess and distribute appropriate fines and forfeitures and monitors compliance with non-judicial fines and forfeitures in all traffic related cases.
8. Visit youth in the detention facility.
9. Serves as liaison to distribute all Clerk of Court billing for traffic cases and court ordered cost matters between the public and Clerk of Court.
10. Assist in the assessment and screening of clients to assist in identifying the appropriate support.
11. Coordinates with the Attorney General’s Office for legal guidance in preparing cases and files including summoning victims and substantial witnesses.
12. Formulates written reports for Judicial Office on each juvenile certified for transfer to the adult system.
13. Complies, verifies, and records information (legal, social, psychological, education) of those charged with delinquent/unruly offenses, including drafting case narrative that may include a recommendation for trail disposition.
14. Performs related duties as required or directed.
