Position Summary
This position works under general supervision to assist with the collection and processing of tax payments for Shelby County and other municipalities.
Pay Grade: 42
Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education
Minimum Qualifications
1. Two (2) years of experience cashiering, customer service, payment processing (counting and sorting cash/distributing change), electronic funds posting, bank receipting/collections to include but not limited to lockbox and/or electronic posting; AND
2. High school diploma or possess GED.
3. Bilingual in English and Spanish (verbal/written).
4. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Operates as a backup to the Head Cashier as needed.
2. Works a flexible schedule adjusted to accommodate daily workflow.
3. Images critical property tax documents.
4. Assists with collecting and processing property taxes, including payments received in the mail, over the internet, and counter transactions as needed.
5. Images critical electronic documents to ensure the efficient operations of the office.
6. Performs other duties as required or directed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing).
2. Ability to efficiently and accurately focus on specific tasks.
3. Ability to remain calm and presentable in hectic situations.
4. Ability to handle stressful situations and distractions.
5. Skilled at operating standard office equipment.
6. Skilled in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
7. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously with accuracy.
8. Ability to organize and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines.
10. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

1. Must have reliable transportation. May be required to work at off-site locations during tax season.
