Position Summary
This position is funded by a grant for a duration of time as defined by the grantor.
Works under the general supervision of the Manager, to provide technical guidance in all phases of the Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program.
Pay Grade: 51
Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education
Minimum Qualifications
1. Three (3) years of lead or supervisory experience in lead prevention, environmental health, public health, or closely related experience; AND
2. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in public health, or closely related field; OR
3. An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
4. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Supervises the activities of all staff that inspect the homes for defective lead-based painted surfaces using x-ray fluorescence equipment, visual, and dust wipe tests.
2. Enforces work procedures within the LeadTRK system, reports all significant Lead related data the LeadIN system, within guidelines, laws, regulations, and ordinances provided by County and State Health Departments, and local municipalities and /or in accordance with HUD, TDH policies and procedures.
3. Informs and educates assigned staff of changes in interpretations of laws, codes and ordinances related to inspectional duties and processes.
4. Assures a competent workforce by monitoring training activities of all staff.
5. Evaluates effectiveness of training by arranging routine quality control checks of inspection reports and field activities.
6. Mobilizes community partnerships with stakeholders when new laws are written and adopted.
7. Assists in establishing, deleting, and revising operations.
8. Issues oral and written instructions.
9. Prepares special reports from analyzed data, and generates, maintains, and reviews periodic summaries on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
10. Assists with the completion of assigned staff performance appraisals.
11. Performs related duties as directed or required.

1. Knowledge of supervision and personnel management practices and techniques.
2. Ability to coordinate and direct the activities of the assigned personnel.
3. Ability to provide training to assigned staff.
4. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
5. Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with the public, coworkers, public officials, and other agencies.
6. Ability to prepare composite reports and make sound recommendations.
7. Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel and other County software applications.
Special Requirements
1. Must possess a valid Tennessee driver license or secure one upon date of employment.
2. Must have daily access to an operable automobile and meet County requirements for automobile insurance upon date of employment.
3. Must be available to work extended shifts and weekends.
4. Must obtain the LEAD Based Paint Supervisor Certification within six (6) months of employment.
5. Must maintain certifications and professional credentials throughout the duration of employment.
Physical Requirements
1. Work requires some bending, climbing and lifting.
2. Must be able to work in all types of weather.
