What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nutrition Compliance Associate position at SHELBY COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT?
Purpose and Scope
The Nutrition Compliance Associate ensures that the District is in compliance with the Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS) Child and Adult Care Food Program operated by Shelby County School Department of Nutrition. The Compliance Associate is also responsible for making sure that the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) are followed.
Essential Job Functions
Monitors compliance with SCS Nutrition Services Programs, including National School Lunch and Breakfast, Tennessee Department of Human Services, and federal regulations for all Programs operated by SCS Nutrition. Ensures that the site operates according to program rules and that accurate site records are available to justify payments to Shelby County Schools. Conducts site training as necessary, including training on Civil Rights requirements. Conducts pre-operational visits for new and problem sites. Determines if the site has the facilities to provide meal service for the anticipated number of children and the capability to conduct the proposed meal service according to TDHS regulations. Follows TDHS data collection sheets for reviews of each site including the meal delivery schedules (time of delivery, type(s) of meal(s), and number of meals), name of site supervisor, type of site (closed enrolled, open, etc.), menus, meal services, meal times, and the approved level of meal service at the sites. Reviews food service operations of all sites at least once during the first week of operation. Makes sure the food service operation is running smoothly and verifies information such as the site address, storage, holding and preparation facilities, and serving capacity. Report all discrepancies to the Area Manager. Reconciles any discrepancies in meal counts and records with the Site Supervisor. Suggests and documents corrective action to the Site Supervisor for problems encountered. Prepares all required reports of site visits and reviews. Ensures copies of the reports are included in the official files for each site. Informs Nutrition Services Area Managers about problems found at the site. Ensures corrective action is completed and documented. Conducts follow up visit for any deficiencies that were identified during a site visit or review to ensure that permanent corrective action has been implemented. Travels 60% of the time to conduct site visits and reviews. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of two years of direct experience in federal, state, and District school nutrition programs and a minimum of one year in compliance monitoring or other related field or any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or directly relevant experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position for a total of three (3) years. Associate's Degree preferred. Experience in preparing extensive and detailed technical reports and with quality monitoring of food service program sites preferred. Must possess a valid Tennessee Driver's license. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).
Note: This position requires movement to and from locations 60% of the time.
Degree Equivalency Formula
Bachelor's Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.
Master's Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master's degrees are required, years for Bachelor's Degrees must be included.
