What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paid Summer Intern - IT Services position at Shelby County?
This is a paid intern position in the IT Services department. Work involves assisting department with ongoing projects involving technology. This position will be filled with a college student taking upper-class coursework toward a degree in a technology related field. This position is open for the Summer of 2025.

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors with exposure to weather extremes, chemical substances, dust, fumes, noise, humidity, odors, work on lift equipment at heights up to 85' and must be able to climb and work from a 20 foot vertical ladder.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is heavy in nature and consists of standing, lifting, carrying and pushing of up to 100 pounds with assistance if needed, bending, walking, using hand and fingers to operate tools. Must have good vision to read and make necessary repairs. Must be comfortable working on lift equipment at heights up to 85' and must be able to climb and work from a 20 foot vertical ladder.EXAMINATIONS
No written or performance examination will be required for this position. - Assist with helpdesk requests
- Set up, install, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade personal and mobile computer hardware, software, peripherals, mobile devices, and telecommunication equipment.
- Assist with projects involving software deployment and installation of hardware such as servers and networking equipment.
- Attend meetings related to IT projects
- Identify, pull and terminate a variety of network cabling in both office and non-office environments.
- Provide assistance as needed in all County Offices and partnering entities.
- Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervision.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be a current undergraduate or graduate college student studying:
o Management of Information Systems
o Cybersecurity
- The successful candidate will be detail oriented; able to follow direction; a self-starter; must be courteous, polite and enjoy meeting and talking with people both in-person and on the phone.
- Proficient with Windows 10/11 and Microsoft Office

Salary : $16
