What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Instructional Assistant position at Shelby Eastern Schools?
Job Description
This position is up to 29 hours per week with a starting pay rate of $14.50/hour. This position will work with students primarily in Junior High, but part of the work day will be focused working with students within a special needs classroom who require assistance connecting and engaging with the school curriculum and peers. The position will work with students in grades 6th-12th as the need arises.
Job Requirements
- Ability to explain and provide support for Math, Language Arts and behavior.
- Flexible in meeting student needs
- Able to explain and provide support for English, math, science, and social studies assignments to students
- Good behavior management skills
- Adhere to confidentiality guidelines
- Provide support in General Education and Special Education classes
- Follow directive of classroom teacher
- Follow all corporation policies and procedures
- Maintain a positive learning environment which is appropriate and well organized to promote student interest in learning
- Participate in department meetings, staff meetings, and professional development activities as appropriate and as needed
- Participate as a team member to provide other services as directed by building principal
Job Qualifications
- Able to work 28 3/4 hours a week
- Pass the ParaPro Exam or Provide Documentation of College Credits Earned
