Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cable Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of low voltage cabling systems. This role requires a strong understanding of network installation and telecommunications, as well as proficiency in using hand tools and testing equipment. As a Cable Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring reliable connectivity for our clients.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Cutting cables to length
- Prepping ends for assembly
- Proper installation crimping pins/sockets
- Soldering as required * Install hoods/connectors
- Verifying and applying tags and labels
- Following all quality requirements including inspection, labeling, testing and packaging
Ideal candidate will have the following experience and education:
- Previous experience building cables with both manual and automatic tooling.
- Experience using cable building equipment such as Crimping/Pinning tools.
- Ability to read and comprehend electrical drawings.
- Soldering experience
- Proper use of hand tools
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assignment to occur at FAC Auburn Hills location (clean, well lit, air-conditioned), however business requirement may necessitate assignments at remote locations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience associated with building cables or wiring harness for automation equipment.
- Knowledge of cable ratings example “UL”Required Competencies:
- Basic PC skills to navigate Microsoft Office and Oracle applications.
- Availability to work overtime including weekends as needed to meet production requirements.
- MIOSHA regulations (Fork Truck, Lockout, Hazardous Material)
- Personal protective equipment used as required by job description.
