Performs skilled professional and technical work involved with coordinating, monitoring, and analyzing construction, inspections, and maintenance of public and private infrastructure, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Engineering Manager.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Assists with the development and implementation of local ordinances, policies and standards regarding applicable engineering principles and practices for public and private development related to infrastructure.Performs construction field inspections for compliance with standard details, specifications, and approved project plans for City and private development construction projects.Creates reports and keeps records regarding field inspections.Coordinates/participates in City and private development construction projects with plan review and construction meetings with developers, consulting engineers, contractors, other city departments, and other governmental agencies.Responds to public complaints and inquiries pertaining to engineering and infrastructure while maintaining quality customer service including in-person meetings, site visits, and written correspondence.Coordinates and/or performs prioritization, preliminary design, cost estimating, bid preparations, and project coordination of construction projects.Assists with the preparation and planning of the City’s Powell Bill Budget.Assists with the preparation of and quality control for the annual street resurfacing program. Assists with the coordination of the resurfacing program with Capital Improvement Projects to be completed by other City departments.Provides technical assistance to directors, superintendents, and other staff during various phases of project design and construction; assists with recommendations for contract approvals and changes; assists with permitting, easement acquisition, and monitoring project progress of design firms and contractors. Conducts engineering studies related to signals, sign issues, pavement markings, and speed zones. This work shall include but not be limited to coordinating Traffic Impact Analysis, current speed/ traffic volume studies, and surveying of City assets and inventories. Assists with obtaining acquisition of easements and right-of-way agreements.Assists with maintaining the City's GIS mapping of public infrastructure.Utilizes AutoCAD or other design software to assist in the preparation of construction drawings and City Standard Details.
