Employment Status: Full-time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Experience Required: Two years of progressively responsible experience within a computerized accounting environment utilizing the concepts and principles of accounting and payroll processing.
Minimum Education Requirements: Bachelor of Arts or Sciences degree with a major in accounting or related field from an accredited college or university
Direct Supervisor: Department Head and/or Employee of Higher Classification
Supervisory Responsibility: No
Physical Requirements: Able to see details of objects and documents, understand the speech of another person, speak clearly, spend extended periods of time at a keyboard.
Primary Work Location: Office environment
Job Summary: Perform highly responsible accounting work, assist the Accountant II and Director in examining, preparing, and maintaining accounting and financial records; and to perform related work as required.
Essential Job Functions
An employee in this position may be called upon to perform any or all of the following essential duties:
- Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to GASB reporting and procedural standards.
- Assist in preparation of bi-weekly payroll including special payrolls, year-end processing, and payroll-related State and Federal reports for monthly and quarterly filing.
- Prepare various payroll and insurance related invoices for payment as needed.
- Prepare and submit various census reports as required.
- Analyze, reconcile, and record monthly retirement plan statements and various bank statements as needed.
- Compile and prepare information for Police and Fire Pension annual reporting requirements.
- Provide payroll, vendor, and financial data to Department Heads, vendors, Accounts Payable and Payroll clerks.
- Investigate various account activity for missing or misstated data. Prepare journal entries to correct.
- Assist Township employees with financial software issues. Track financial software upgrades to assist Finance Department and other system users in new technology.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual audit.
- Assist as needed with annual Fixed Asset Report.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget.
- Perform related work as required but not limited to those duties performed by classifications of a lower grade.
