Technology Applications Teacher

Sheldon Independent School District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Audio / Video Production teacher.

Qualifications : The teacher will have a valid Texas Teachers Certificate in Technology Applications or approved work experience.

Preference will be given to applicants who

  • possess significant knowledge of digital media development using software such as Adobe Certified Professional in Digital Video using Premier Pro and other Adobe products
  • have expertise in capturing digital media using the Apple platform and peripheral hardware
  • demonstrate experience supporting digital video and media in the curriculum and experience in producing digital storytelling narratives
  • have knowledge of media production communication, and dissemination techniques and methods
  • manage and maintain program facilities and equipment
  • have the ability to meet deadlines and schedules in an organized fashion
  • demonstrate advanced computer skills, communication skills, and public relations skills
  • provide content-related and appropriate instruction based on state curriculum through a combination of classroom, laboratory, and co-curricular activities
  • have experience with film, video, and / or audio production
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for the subject area, develop pertinent assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.
  • Instruct students in the proper use and care of professional equipment, technology, and other professional materials.
  • Promotes critical and creative thinking and analysis in all related subject areas.
  • Serve as a CSTO sponsor and involve students with professional associations affiliated with their Program of Study
  • Promotes Audio Video instruction and teaches knowledge and skills that prepare students for related Adobe Audio Video industry certifications.
  • Administers industry certification exams to junior / senior students in junior / senior level courses, specific to the Program of Study and course, in accordance with Sheldon ISD CTE department procedures.

  • Designs learning activities to demonstrate the application of the profession to everyday existence, including projects, demonstrations, experiments, and hands-on activities.
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to laboratory, individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
  • Takes note of state and industry requirements for the program and updates all stakeholders of changes.
  • Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Maintain required documentation for various activities such as travel paperwork and work-based learning.
  • Parent Involvement

  • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  • Professional Learning Community

  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.
  • Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within special education, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids, and other supplies and equipment, maintains inventory records, and ensures equipment is in good working order.
  • Attends and participates in school events during and outside of regular school hours.
  • Attends instructional training as needed to administer district-approved Audio Video curriculum and Adobe certification exams.

  • Travel Requirements

    Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

    Work Schedule

    Standard teacher work schedule as set forth in the Teachers' Unit Contract.

  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
  • Knowledge of business education curriculum and concepts.
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
  • Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
  • Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards

    Work in standard office and school building environments.

    Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.

    Sheldon ISD will accept applications for this position through 12 / 2 / 2024.
