The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction, collaborate with general education teachers, and create an inclusive learning environment to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Instruction and Student Support

Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.

Provide differentiated instruction tailored to meet students’ unique learning needs.

Use research-based instructional strategies to support academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.

Utilize data-driven decision-making to assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.

Implement and support behavior intervention plans as needed.

Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students can succeed.
Collaboration and Communication

Work closely with general education teachers to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications are in place.

Collaborate with paraprofessionals, specialists, and support staff to provide comprehensive services for students.

Maintain open and consistent communication with families regarding student progress and support strategies.

Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional learning communities.

Serve as a resource for staff on best practices in special education.
Classroom and Case Management

Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including IEP documentation and progress monitoring data.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district special education regulations.

Advocate for students’ needs while maintaining high expectations for growth and achievement.

Assist in the transition planning of students as they progress through grade levels.
Professional Development and School Involvement

Stay current on best practices and research in special education through professional development opportunities.

Actively contribute to a positive school culture and participate in school-wide initiatives.

Engage in ongoing collaboration with colleagues to enhance instructional effectiveness.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
-
Valid Iowa teaching license with appropriate special education endorsement. Strat I endorsement is required, with the possibility of obtaining Strat II.

Experience working with young students with disabilities preferred.

Strong knowledge of differentiated instruction, behavior management, and inclusive practices.
