This position will provide engaging instruction in agricultural education, prepare students for careers in agriculture-related fields, and actively assist with the Future Farmers of America (FFA) program. The ideal candidate will foster a hands-on learning environment that integrates classroom instruction with practical experiences, competitions, and leadership development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive agriculture curriculum that aligns with state and national CTE standards.
- Teach a variety of agriculture-related courses, which may include animal science, plant science, agribusiness, mechanics, and natural resources.
- Supervise and support students in hands-on, project-based learning experiences.
- Serve as an advisor for the FFA program, assisting students in leadership development, competitions, and community service projects.
- Coordinate and participate in FFA events, including local, state, and national contests and conventions.
- Foster industry and community partnerships to provide students with real-world experiences, such as internships and job-shadowing opportunities.
- Manage classroom and laboratory resources, including agriculture-related facilities and equipment.
- Teach and ensure student safety in all instructional settings, particularly in laboratory and shop environments.
- Collaborate with fellow educators, administrators, and industry professionals to enhance student learning and program development.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and meet all district and state reporting requirements.
- Stay current with advancements in agricultural education and CTE teaching methodologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Education, Agriculture Science, or a related field or industry related experience to be able to apply for a CTE teaching certificate through Idaho.
- Valid Idaho teaching certificate with an endorsement in Agricultural Education (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Experience in agricultural instruction, FFA leadership, or industry-related fields preferred.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, colleagues, and community partners.
- Commitment to student success, hands-on learning, and career readiness.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of agricultural mechanics, welding, and/or farm management.
- Experience advising an FFA program and coaching students in competitions.
