This is a part-time on-site role and In Community positions for a Mental Health Therapist/IIC at Shelley's Way located in Irvington, NJ. The role involves providing mental health therapy and Intensive In-Community (IIC) services to children and youth, conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and collaborating with families and other professionals to improve youth functioning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments to determine client needs, mental health diagnoses, and treatment goals.
- Provide individual, family, and group therapy sessions, utilizing evidence-based treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, and other therapeutic approaches.
· Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical diagnosis and psychoeducation, ensuring treatment goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART).
· Deliver psychoeducation to clients and families on mental health topics, coping strategies, and skill-building to improve emotional regulation and resilience.
· Collaborate with other healthcare providers, case managers, and community resources to ensure comprehensive care and treatment for clients.
· Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with legal, ethical, and organizational standards, including progress notes, treatment plans, and clinical assessments.
· Stay updated on current clinical practices, trends in mental health, and relevant research to continually improve therapeutic interventions.
- · Provide crisis intervention and stabilization services as needed, ensuring clients are connected to appropriate resources.
- Promote a safe, empathetic, and culturally competent environment that respects the diversity of clients and their families.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and legal standards regarding client information and care.
Qualifications
· Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work (LCSW), Psychology (PhD, PsyD), or related mental health field.
· Valid state licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or equivalent.
· Experience providing individual and family therapy with a focus on clinical diagnosis, evidence-based treatment modalities, and psychoeducation.
· Experience working with diverse populations and familiarity with cultural competency in therapy practices.
· Strong understanding of mental health disorders, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma, PTSD, ADHD, substance use disorders, and other mood or behavior disorders.
· Proficiency in using DSM-5 for clinical diagnosis and treatment planning.
· Ability to develop and implement treatment interventions that are trauma-informed and client-centered.
· Knowledge of crisis intervention strategies and experience with managing acute mental health situations.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex clinical information clearly and effectively to clients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
· Ability to work independently in an in-home setting while maintaining strong clinical documentation and case management practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Training in Trauma-Informed Care and experience working with trauma survivors.
- Additional certifications or specialized training in clinical interventions such as CBT, DBT, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, or Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems and understanding of HIPAA compliance.
- Bilingual proficiency (Spanish, etc.) is a plus.
These positions are part time and hired as Contractors.
