Human Trafficking Advocate (PT) The Shelter for Abused Women & Children
Location : Shelly Stayer Shelter - Immokalee location
Reports to : Residential Services Manager Employment Type : Parttime, Non- Exempt (Hourly)
Direct Reports : N / A
Salary : Determined based on experience, local wages, and nonprofit industry rates.
This is a fully in-person position with no opportunities for remote work.
The Impact of This Position
The Part-Time (PT) Human Trafficking Advocate will provide support, counseling, and intensive case management to human trafficking survivors who are enrolled in The Shelters long-term therapeutic program. In addition, the PT Human Trafficking Advocate will provide support to survivors who are in the court system, jail, or part of an active investigation. They will provide information regarding the criminal and civil judicial systems. They will also appear in court and advocate on behalf of the survivor with representatives of law enforcement, prosecution, and court, and will assist with arrangements for additional legal and wrap around services.

Education and Experience
- Bachelors degree in Social Work or equivalent experience in relevant fields.
- Experience with domestic violence, human trafficking, and our trauma intervention and prevention is preferred.
Certifications and Training
Completion of First Aid and CPR certification.Successful completion of The Shelters Core Competency training upon hire.EOO & Compliance

Program Development and Maintenance :
Collaborate with The Shelters Chief Program Officer and the full-time Human Trafficking Advocate, to develop, implement, and maintain The Shelters long-term Human Trafficking program, including services, policies, and procedures.Conduct intakes and maintain participant records in accordance with program quality guidelines.Provide intensive case management services to human trafficking survivors enrolled in the program.Community Resource Network :
Establish and maintain a referral network of community resources to help survivors access comprehensive services.Respond to new leads and inquiries from potential program participants within 24 hours.Assist survivors with victim certification advocacy.Gather, organize, and update VAWA informational materials.Assist clients in gathering all necessary supplemental documentation.Provide referrals and assistance based on survivors' needs.Program Evaluation and Documentation :
Participate in program evaluation by establishing program outcomes and methods to capture them.Develop necessary program forms and document templates for program implementation.Collaborate with other Shelter staff to establish internal referral protocols and partnerships.Be adaptable to change, growth, and any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.Individual Supportive Counseling / Support Group Facilitation :
Provide individual supportive counseling, crisis intervention, emotional support, guidance, information, and referrals to survivors of human trafficking.Emergency Legal Advocacy / Criminal Justice Support :
Provide emergency legal advocacy, criminal justice support, assistance with restraining orders, and injunctions.Assist with petitions related to elder abuse, child abuse, and other protective measures.Advocate for victims at any stage of the criminal justice process and provide post-sentencing services and support.Who You Are
