Shelter Island , IGA is a small business on beautiful and fun Shelter Island, NY. We are a fast-paced store busy Memorial Day-Labor Day, but we are open all year. We are seeking Produce Manager. Ferry Fee Paid, housing may be provided for qualified candidates. .
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Produce Manager to oversee the produce department of our retail establishment on beautiful Shelter Island. We are busiest from Memorial Day-Labor day, but open all year. The ideal candidate will have a passion for fresh produce, excellent leadership skills, and a strong background in retail management.
**Duties:**
- Manage all aspects of the produce department including ordering, stocking, and merchandising
- Train, supervise, and schedule department staff
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent service and product quality
-Be knowledgable in buying Organic Produce
- Monitor inventory levels and conduct regular quality checks on produce
- Implement strategies to drive sales and meet department goals
- Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling, and budgeting
**Requirements:**
- Proven experience in retail management with a focus on produce
- Strong knowledge of retail math and inventory management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lead and motivate a team effectively
- Proficiency in time management and multitasking
- Experience in negotiating with suppliers and vendors
