Summary

 

The Underground Foreman is a skilled position in the construction, maintenance, and repair of underground distribution systems. Foremen serve as firsthand leaders for their construction crews. Responsible for the safety, quality, and productivity of all crew members while completing construction projects for our customers.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform all responsibilities of an Underground Class A Lineman
  • Responsible for crew administration and equipment management
  • Capable of leading and training lower skilled employees in safe and productive procedures.
  • Capable of leading and teaching underground services, infrastructure, and duct banks.
  • Interact with employees, customers, and the public in a courteous and tactful manner.
  • Adhere to safety and performance standards.
  • Maintain time and material records for the assigned job.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and abilities by participating in continuing education activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership.

 

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience
  1. High school diploma or GED required.
  2. Minimum 5 years’ experience in the electrical services industry required.
  3. Complete OSHA 30 Safety Training Program within 90 days.
  4. CDL class A license preferred; must acquire CDL beginners permit within 60 days.
  5. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills must be very detail oriented.
  6. Possess strong organizational and time management skills.
  7. Ability to understand plans/blueprints to ensure projects meet all building/code requirements.
  8. Proven success in meeting critical deadlines under stressful conditions
  9. Strong sense of personal responsibility
  10. Commitment to doing quality work while putting safety first.

Working conditions/Physical Requirements/Travel

 

  • Working Conditions

 

  1. Work sites are underground in confined space or outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions.
  2. All worksite safety instructions are written and spoken in English; must be fluent in English.
  3. Work includes prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50lbs); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling.
  4. Work is performed within the “red zone” of heavy equipment.
  5. Working safely requires quick/accurate hand-eye coordination and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

 

  • Requirements

 

  1. Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens.
  2. Provide valid US work authorization documents for E-Verify
  3. Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check results
  4. A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.
  5. Pre-employment medical fit-for-duty test; hold/obtain DOT medical card.
  6. Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as dictated by position.
  7. With the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities we serve in mind, all candidates who receive an offer of employment will be required to complete a COVID-19 risk assessment; your responses will help us determine an employment start date.

 

  • Travel required. Ability to work on-call, irregular hours, and emergency response.
