Salary: $158,093 - $171,125 annually, depending on experience.
FLSA Status: Exempt

Overview
The Shelton High School Assistant Principal will support the strategic plan for Shelton School District and implementation of the School Improvement Plan. They work collaboratively with staff and other administrators to develop and maintain a safe and welcoming environment where students excel both academically and personally.
Requirements
- Washington State certificate with a principal endorsement.
- At least five years successful secondary teaching experience.
- Secondary administrative experience (preferred, not required).
- Successful experience in leaderships roles.
- Demonstrated school district and community involvement.
- Demonstrated skills in program development and evaluation, staff supervision and evaluation, fiscal management, staff development, human relations, assessment, and technology utilization.
- Demonstrated managerial skills of planning to include participatory and collaborative planning and decision making, organizing, delegating and listening.
- Training and/or experience in leadership, restructuring, assessment and evaluation process.
- Demonstrates high energy, professional involvement, and facilitator abilities.
- Desire to continue career improvement.
- An understanding of effective leadership and an ability to use leadership skills that allow for positive, effective change in Shelton School District.
- Ability to develop and sustain focus on a shared mission and clear vision for improvement for the Shelton School District.
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement daily and long-term operations and goals.
- Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations governing Washington State public schools.
- Ability to use data to drive planning and decision making.

Essential Functions
- Supports and inspires staff to achieve educational excellence through collaboration, teamwork, and leadership.
- Supervises and evaluates school personnel for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing professional growth, and achieving overall objectives of the school curriculum and school improvement plan.
- Communicates openly and frequently with the staff, students, parents, administration, and the community.
- Fosters safe, compassionate, caring school environments that place the interest of students as the highest priority.
- Provides support to the school staff in offering quality instructional programs, strong co-curricular programs, and services to students.
- Promotes and practices professional growth and development.
- Consults and collaborates with high school staff and other school personnel in gathering and giving information on an identified concern, and in establishing and planning the facilitation of modifying a teachers' and/or students' behavior.
- Coaches teachers and other staff in their actions to increase effective student learning.
- Assists teachers with instructional skills, classroom management techniques, and discipline strategies.
- Works closely with building level administrators and district teams.
- Ensures that all school programs and activities conform to district guidelines.
- Works effectively with community organizations.
- Maintains updated knowledge of school policies and procedure that affect this position and school.
- Assists with the development of a program for the evaluation and improvement of instruction to ensure maximum educational benefits for students.
- Assists in maintaining effective programs to strengthen and monitor pupil discipline, attendance, and individual progress.
- Assists with the selection and assignment of certificated and classified personnel.
- Encourages the professional growth of teachers by advanced training, experimentation, and evaluation.
- Assists with the administration of the school budget.
- Assists in maintaining school records and filing necessary reports
- Assists with the maintenance of safe, clean, attractive, and well-kept buildings and grounds.
- Assists with planning and organizing the school day and year to provide for efficient operations of the school.
- Assists with supervision in the following areas, including but not limited to: activities, campus supervision, game supervision, and lunch supervision.
- Assists in the development and oversight of 504/IEP implementation as directed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
