What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Commonwealth Attorney I position at Shenandoah County?
Overview:
The Shenandoah County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office seeks one attorney to join their team. Most importantly, the candidate must exhibit high moral character, be oriented to working as a part of a team and be committed to a service-oriented mindset.
The candidate will be responsible for preparing and handling assigned general district court dockets, including the Juvenile and Domestic Relations docket. The position will also be responsible for handling assigned felony cases. This entails researching case law related to the issues of their cases, working closely with law enforcement, communicating with victims, witnesses, and other professionals involved in their cases, and attending trainings as recommended and required for continuing legal education. The candidate will exhibit a willingness to grow both professionally and in skill level. This entry-level position will be mentored by a senior member of this office for some period of time.
Qualifications:
- Must be a licensed to practice law in the State of Virginia, in good standing with the Virginia Bar
- Graduation from an accredited law school with an LLB or JD degree
- Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record
- Successfully complete a criminal background check
Anticipated Entry Level Salary: 74,000.00 to 76,051.00
