What are the responsibilities and job description for the Two Way Radio Installation Technician position at Shenandoah Fleet Maintenance and Management?
As an Installation Technician, your primary job is to assess, program, install, troubleshoot, maintain, remove, and service two-way mobile radios, speakers, antennas, other accessories, and all necessary wiring into customer vehicles. These vehicles range from light duty pickups to heavy equipment. You will be responsible for exceeding our customers' expectations and fulfilling our company's needs. Duties & Responsibilities
- Understand and fully utilize service software as is required to execute your job
- Receive a task and complete job tasks as assigned by the Service Coordinator
- Intelligently plan and install two-way radios and related equipment into different types of vehicles
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair/replace antenna cables, power cables, and antennas
- Maintain all company issued tools and equipment and ensure serviceability
- Work closely with Service Coordinator to ensure timely completion of work
- Assist Service Coordinator as needed with customer and job information
- Assist other technicians with on-site installation
- Adheres to all safety requirements and procedures – OSHA, Company and Customer standards
- High School Diploma or GED
- Some telecommunications experience preferred
- Requires ability to move and or lift heavy objects, up to 50 lbs
- Ability to climb ladders and operate elevating equipment
- Driver’s license, acceptable driving record and ability to maintain acceptable driving record during course of employment is required
- Overnight travel within Virginia required
Additional consideration for:
- Technical training and certifications (OSHA, Motorola, Kenwood, etc.)
- Related military experience/MOS training

Working Conditions

Physical Requirements
- Position requires driving, lifting, standing, and carrying.
- Being able to place themselves into tight spaces, many of which are accomplished on their back and/or on a creeper as well as from a ladder
- Manual dexterity and fine motor skills to work with small fasteners or components
Must have clean drug screen and satisfactory background check
