We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Vac Truck Operator to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of various types of trucks and trailers, including but not limited to dump trucks, tankers, and heavy haul vehicles. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently while adhering to safety regulations and company policies.
Position Summary
Position consists of working with a crew on pipeline rehabilitation projects, including but not limited to slip lining, drainage repair & installation, and canal & lake bank restoration. Must be effective with small tools and equipment such as: pumps, gas saws, compactors, bobcats, backhoes etc. Underground utility construction experience required. A CDL Class A Driver’s License is required. Travel for overnights Sunday - Friday.
Duties
- Safely operate various types of trucks, including tow trucks, dump trucks, tankers, and heavy haul vehicles.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and warehouse personnel regarding delivery schedules and any issues that may arise during transport.
- Load and unload cargo using equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts when necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and any incidents that occur during transportation.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving in various weather conditions.
- Assist in yard jockey duties as needed, moving trailers within the yard for efficient loading and unloading.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) is required.
- 3-5 Years of Experience
- Mechanical knowledge is preferred to perform basic maintenance on vehicles.
- Experience operating different types of trucks (e.g., tow truck, dump truck, tanker) is a plus.
- Familiarity with warehouse operations and logistics processes is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members and clients.
- Ability to work independently while following safety protocols.
- Willingness to work flexible hours as required by the job demands.
