Shenandoah University is seeking a Head Coach for Men’s & Women’s Volleyball to develop and maintain a competitive NCAA Division III volleyball program while supporting the academic and personal growth of student-athletes. This position requires adherence to all Shenandoah University, ODAC, and NCAA rules and regulations. This is a full-time benefited position located on our main campus in Winchester, Virginia.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Oversee all aspects of Shenandoah University's Division III Men’s & Women’s Volleyball program.

Collaborate with the Director of Athletics to define and achieve annual enrollment and roster management goals.

  • Recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes in compliance with university, ODAC, and NCAA standards.
  • Develop and implement strategies to monitor student-athletes' academic progress and athletic performance
  • Plan, organize, and execute in-season and out-of-season practices and training sessions.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of NCAA Division III, ODAC, and university rules, ensuring full program compliance.
  • Define roles and responsibilities for assistant coaches and staff within the program.
  • Lead athletic fundraising initiatives in collaboration with the university’s Advancement Office and Athletics Department.
  • Organize camps and clinics to increase community engagement and promote volleyball at Shenandoah University.
  • Plan all team travel, including transportation, accommodations, and meal arrangements.
  • Manage the volleyball program’s budget, including the procurement of uniforms and equipment.
  • Oversee and coordinate practice facility usage for the program.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

Attend department and conference meetings, as required.

  • Assist with long-term planning for the volleyball program’s development and success.
  • Participate in public relations and speaking engagements to promote Shenandoah University Athletics.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.

    QUALIFICATIONS :

    Education : Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Experience : Previous collegiate coaching and recruiting experience required. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge : Familiarity with NCAA Division III philosophy, recruitment practices, and rules and regulations.
  • Skills : Strong oral and written communication skills, organizational abilities, and proficiency in managing budgets.
  • Other : Must have a valid driver’s license and willingness to work nights and weekends.
