Summary
The Power Supply Liaison will serve as the primary point of contact between our cooperative and wholesale power providers. This role is critical in ensuring reliable, cost-effective power supply while fostering strong relationships with suppliers. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of the energy industry, exceptional communication skills, and a strategic mindset to navigate the complexities of power procurement and regulation. This role is pivotal in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our power supply, directly impacting the cooperative’s operational success and member satisfaction.

Responsibilities
· Act as the primary liaison between the cooperative and wholesale power providers.
· Negotiate power purchase agreements (PPAs) and manage contract compliance.
· Administer all actions associated with any Renewable Energy Credits to ensure compliance with internal goals and regulatory and legal requirements.
· Monitor market trends and regulatory changes to ensure advantageous procurement strategies.
· Coordinate with internal departments (e.g., operations, finance, engineering, and regulatory) to align power supply strategies with cooperative goals.
· Coordinate with Wholesale Power Provider(s) to create the Power Requirements Study(ies) to fulfill internal and regulatory requirements.
· Analyze and report on power supply costs, usage patterns, and market conditions.
· Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements and industry standards.
· Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in the wholesale power market.
· Manage and resolve any disputes or issues related to power supply contracts.
· Participate in industry forums and meetings to stay informed about best practices and emerging trends.
· Provide regular updates and strategic recommendations to senior management.
· Analyze invoices associated with wholesale power purchases to ensure accuracy.
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Energy Management, or a related field.
· Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred.
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in the energy industry, particularly in power procurement or utility operations.
· Experience working with regulatory agencies and understanding compliance requirements.
· Certification in energy procurement or related fields is a plus.
Required Skills and Abilities
· In-depth understanding of the wholesale power market, energy procurement, and regulatory environment.
· Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
· Excellent analytical abilities, with proficiency in data analysis and financial modeling.
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
· Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
· Proficiency with energy market software and tools.
· Knowledge of risk management practices in power procurement.
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Familiarity with renewable energy sources and sustainability practices is a plus.
Physical Requirements
· Participation in SVEC job safety and training programs, relevant workshops, seminars and other SVEC sponsored courses and events.
· Must be able to use office equipment including telephone, computer, and other systems and related software in the performance of position responsibilities.
· Must be able and available, during any and all types of weather conditions, to work weekends, holidays, evenings and other times outside normal duty hours to assist in service restoration and other emergencies that may arise or when the workload demands.
· Must always maintain an operating telephone or personal communication device at his/her place of residence. Ability to contact the telephone or personal communication device must be made available to SVEC for the purpose of contacting the manager to conduct legitimate routine and/or emergency business.
· This position involves primarily inside work. Must be able to lift objects unassisted (up to 30 pounds). Some standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling to a minimal degree.
