Shenandoah Community Health (SCH) is seeking an experienced, communicative, and compassionate (LICSW, LCSW, LGSW, LPC or Psychologist) therapist with substance abuse experience to serve our growing Behavioral Health Services Team.

Working at SCH is more than just a job, it is an opportunity to impact the lives of the people living in our community.  The Therapist is primarily responsible for providing initial diagnostic interviews, developing treatment plans, providing appropriate therapeutic interventions, as well as completing medical records and billing documents. The candidate must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned area. The skills and knowledge needed to provide such may be gained through education, training, and experience. Services are provided primarily in office with some telehealth available.

 Essential Functions:     

  • Effectively performs initial diagnostic interview or a substance abuse evaluation; accurately completes the initial diagnostic forms within the established time-frame.  
  • Develops an appropriate plan of treatment based upon the initial interview and psychiatric evaluation and completes the documentation required in the medical record.  
  • Coordinates with Providers in the Primary Behavioral Health Program regarding diagnostic impressions and needs for psychotherapy.  
  • Crisis intervention or critical incident debriefing.  
  • Recommendations for hospitalization, and residential or outpatient treatment  
  • Communicates with patients and staff in an age-appropriate, culturally-sensitive, non-threatening, productive manner.  
  • Referrals to appropriate staff or case management services to include Social Services, CPS, and Domestic Violence Programs.  
  • Evaluations and triage regarding physical health and nutritional screening make referrals for further evaluation including assessment of pain and pain management, psycho/social, spiritual, and cultural needs.  
  • Individual, group or family therapy based on the inter-disciplinary treatment plan, within privileges and scope of practice at SVMS/BHS, and following minimum standards of practice for the diagnosis or problem identified.  
  • Substance abuse evaluation; and, treatment or transfer to the appropriate team member.  
  • Effectively coordinates and communicates with other providers involved in the treatment of the patient, attends multi-disciplinary treatment meetings weekly, and presents new treatments and effectively coordinates with other team member.  
  • Additional duties as assigned.    

  

Required Skills:    

· Ability to demonstrate courteous and cooperative behavior with patients, families, co-workers, subordinates, supervisors, and other department staff.  

· Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy at all times according to policies and procedures; uses discretion when discussing patient matters.  

· Solid communication skills, including listening and the ability to demonstrate empathy, rapport building, and patience.  

  Experience and Education:    

· Must have a master’s degree in the field of social work, counseling, or related field and hold a current West Virginia license to practice in that specific field.  

· Must have at least two years of training and/or experience in behavioral health, addictions, inpatient and outpatient.  

· Must have familiarization with DSM-V training and credentials in the psychotherapist "specialization and/or Substance Abuse credentials."  

· Must have dual diagnosis experience.  

· A background in family system therapy is preferred.  

· Must maintain licensing and comply with continuing education requirements stipulated by applicable credentialing boards.
