Infection Preventionist Educator- Job Summary : This role is responsible for organizing and implementing clinical in-service education programs for all Health Services employees, coordinating and facilitating activities of the Quality Assurance Committee, and infection control for the community.
Infection Preventionist Educator Requirements :
BSN from an accredited college or university, MSN preferred
Teaching experience in a healthcare environment preferred
Registered Nursing license in good standing for the Commonwealth of Virginia
Knowledge of quality assurance standards and programs, state and federal regulations ? CPR, 1st Aid and AED certification as instructor preferred
Certification in Quality Assurance and infection control preferred
Ability to instruct Medication Aide and Certified Nurse’s Aide Courses in the community preferred
Maintain educational / regulatory requirements to continue MT / CNA instruction program preferred

Salary - $71,000-$100,000

Infection Preventionist Educator Duties & Responsibilities
Maintain working knowledge of nursing care standards, quality assurance standards, and current state and federal regulations.
Facilitate QA meetings no less than every other month.
Monitor Quality Indicator report no less than bi-monthly.
Facilitate development and implementation of appropriate plans of action to correct identified quality deficiencies. Monitor compliance with corrective action plans. ?Provide staff education on QA standards and process.
Evaluate and provide instruction on competency of Health Services employees during orientation and annually thereafter.
Provide in-service education for Health Services employees related to resident needs, use of new medical equipment, techniques, policies, procedures, forms, and other identified needs.
Participate in developing and maintaining relationships with area Nursing programs and community outreach programs.
Develop, implement, and evaluate the organizational infection control program. ? Surveillance plan based on the population served. Evaluate and modify as necessary. ? Implement and maintain systems and processes for surveillance data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Develop and implement a risk assessment plan that identifies potential risks for healthcare-associated infections.
Investigate healthcare-associated infection clusters or outbreaks and implement appropriate control measures.
Develop, implement, and evaluate infection prevention strategies. ? Collaborate interdepartmentally to create infection prevention strategies, feedback, and sustain infection prevention strategies.
