What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineer Network Fiber OSP II position at Shentel?
Job Summary: The Network Engineer Fiber OSP II is responsible for network planning and engineering of all Shentel broadband networks to include copper and fiber optic networks. Also responsible for project management of major engineering initiatives as well as generating detailed engineering documentation to support the installation, configuration, and ongoing operations of the network. The positions requires coordinating with multiple vendors to provide Shentel with initial designs.
Qualification Requirements:•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field. Other candidates with a strong technical background and substantial industry or military experience will be considered.•Hold a valid government issued driver’s license
Experience Level: •2 or more years of experience in Outside Plant Engineering or an Outside Plant technical operations role•Budgeting and financial analysis •BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD)•Strong project management experience•Fiber engineering or construction background•Experience coordinating with multiple vendors.
Skill Requirements:•Detail oriented and strong organizational skills•Excellent written and verbal communication skills•Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Knowledge of:•Access technologies (HFC, RFOG, PON)•In-depth knowledge and strong outside plant to include copper, fiber, and coax fiber networks•Microsoft Excel, CAD, Visio, Mapcom, or other network mapping and design tool
