Library Custodian

Job Summary
The Shepard-Pruden Memorial Library in Edenton, NC is looking immediately for a part-time custodian or team of custodians to aid in the upkeep and cleanliness of our facility. Required hours are Monday-Fridays (7-9 PM)

Daily Responsibilities:

• Cleaning both upstairs and downstairs restrooms (toilets, urinals, countertops, sinks, and mirrors).
• Checking to see if bathroom necessities need to be replenished (toilet tissue, paper towels, and soap in dispensers).
• Mopping all areas with tiled floor.
• Vacuuming carpeted-areas on the first floor.
• Dumping all trash in receptacles on first and second floor and replacing bags if needed.

"As Needed" Responsibilities (1-2 times a week):

• Vacuuming second floor carpeted areas, especially after an event or storytime session has been hosted.
• Dusting and sanitizing heavily-trafficked surfaces (study tables, circulation desk area, computers in computer area).
• Wiping down blinds.
• Sweeping stairway and other heavily-trafficked areas (tiled floors).
• Wiping down surfaces and appliances in upstairs kitchen.
• Reporting to librarian if a problem arises or if a restock of cleaning supplies is needed.

Insurance Needs:

To be considered for the position, a $300,000.00 liability insurance policy must be purchased and maintained throughout the duration of your employment with the Shepard-Pruden Memorial Library and Pettigrew Regional Library system.
