Production Manager (Miscellaneous)
Our company is looking for a Production Manager with experience in the metal fabrication industry.
Shepard Steel is a structural steel and miscellaneous metals fabrication company that has been part of the Connecticut construction landscape for over 65 years. With a staff of approximately 100 talented professionals, we are carrying out the company’s proud tradition of meeting the structural and miscellaneous steel requirements of customers throughout all Southern New England and Eastern New York State. We fabricate approximately 12,000 tons of steel annually and have invested heavily in state-of-the-art fabrication equipment in recent years.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Extensive experience in all aspects of Miscellaneous Metal fabrication.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
- Position requires experience in a Supervisory role.
- Regular direct contact with Project Managers, Administrative Employees, Drivers, Maintenance and Shop Personnel.
- Additional contact with internal departments and subcontractors.
- Occasional interaction with customers of Shepard Steel.
- Prioritizes material to be pulled from the yard.
- Review shop drawings determine which fabricators to distribute work to.
- Attends weekly production meeting.
- Coordinate deliveries with project managers and shipping department.
- Validate timecards and forward to payroll.
- Approve vacation requests and keep track of them.
Required Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Has experience in a manufacturing environment and knowledge of product flow and manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated the ability to manage multiple personnel, as well as, hire and terminate personnel.
- Ability to speak, read and write in English.
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.
- Physically capable of lifting/pushing/pulling 70 pounds unassisted.
- Physically capable of bending/twisting as well as standing for long periods of time.
- Able to work well with minimal supervision as well as with other colleagues.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and follow specified procedures.
- Self-motivated, detail oriented and has a positive attitude.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
- Must be willing to submit to a pre-employment physical, drug screening and background check.
