Shepherd Oil was founded in 1949 and we are a full-service petroleum wholesaler, transportation and retail c-store business who is seeking a Controller to join our accounting team. The Controller will work closely with the accounting team ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance requirements, and support the company's overall financial goals.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Assist with management of the accounting processes ensuring proper posting of business activity
- Maintain inventory records and ensure proper recording
- Assist in filing and maintaining all required industry, state and federal reporting, taxes, licensure and regulatory requirements
- Prepare financial statements to summarize and forecast the company's financial status
- Assist with tax returns and audits
- Assist in the preparation of various special reports as directed
- Monitor cash and credit balances, providing documentation to creditors as required to maintain relationships
- Provide back-up coverage to other accounting staff as needed in areas such as payroll, accounts payable, and fuel invoicing
- Ensure accounting practices, follow legal guidelines and established accounting principles
- Maintain strict confidentiality
