Shepherd University seeks an Accountant to join our team!
Gain a thorough understanding of the various financial modules and their integration within the overall system. This includes, but is not limited to, the general ledger, cash management, payroll, and budgeting.
Prepare and post general ledger entries as needed to record the financial activity of the Institution. Responsible for reviewing for accuracy and posting general ledger entries prepared by others as well as preparing and posting general ledger entries for the finance department.
Responsible for reconciling local bank accounts and general ledger accounts.
Assist Shepherd personnel with obtaining financial information as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree in Business/Accounting
Post-Secondary Accounting course completion
Equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered as meeting the minimum qualifications, at the direction of the hiring supervisor.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
Professional Work Experience in Accounting/Business.
Operating Computerized Accounting Systems/Software.
Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills.
Budget Development Experience.
Grants Management Experience.
Customer Service Experience Is a Plus.
Job Duties:
Analyze and reconcile all Local Bank Accounts.
Assist in accurate financial reporting through proper monitoring and reconcilement of accounts.
Provide information, as needed, to others within the Finance Department and outside the Finance Department regarding historical general ledger and budget data.
Prepare, review, and post General Ledger entries for Procurement, Payroll, and Finance.
Run the Feed to Finance daily and prepare and record entries for revenue transfers weekly.
Prepare and record Monthly and Quarterly entries for Month-end and Quarter-end closing.
Gain a working knowledge of the Payroll Interface process.
Cross-train and gain a working knowledge of student accounts.
Assist in the monitoring, reconciling, and billing of grants on the Federal, State, Local and Private agency levels.
Other duties as assigned.
Appointment to this position will be contingent upon a satisfactory background check.
