The SSTEM Math tutor will offer weekly scheduled math workshops for either the Spring or Fall academic term. Tutoring hours will amount to a minimum of 3-5hrs weekly. Workshops are intended for students to drop in to gain support in either MATH 155 or MATH 207 content. Instructors will provide resources and materials to be used during workshops. Tutors will be expected to work with a variety of student needs and should be prepared to work with multiple students simultaneously. To be successful in this position, the applicants should have skill sets in previous credit in MATH 155 and/or MATH 207 content, flexibility, patience, ability to keep accurate records, and a willingness to work with a range of students' abilities. We are seeking tutors who are passionate about helping others, have the ability to multitask, and are willing to enhance their own tutoring abilities and grow in the position. Tutoring will take place in either face-to-face, online, or both platforms. Tutors will report to the Director of Academic Support and will also work closely with the math department faculty.
Minimum Qualifications
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Earned credit for MATH 155 and/or MATH 207
Enrolled part-time at Shepherd University Fall/Spring 2024-2025
