Minimum Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Office in the workplace, particularly Excel.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Experience working with the public.
- Ability to multitask efficiently.
- High School diploma
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience working in a library.
- Post-secondary education or certificate.

Description of Job Duties
- Open and close the library, as scheduled.
- Maintain physical and digital records of student assistant hours and payments.
- Approve and submit biweekly timesheets for student assistants.
- Oversee student assistant personnel files and maintain security and confidentiality.
- Manage both digital and print versions of the Student Assistant Supervisor Operations Manual.
- Administer the Brightspace student assistant training site.
- Advertise, interview, and process hiring proposals for student assistant positions.
- Train and schedule student assistants for Public Services duties.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations of student assistants.
- Address student assistant issues in consultation with the library director.
- Act as staff advisor for the Student Library Advisory Board (SLAB), aiding in event planning and implementation.
- Manage, organize, and distribute incoming and outgoing library mail on a daily basis.
- Manage stack maintenance, search for missing items, conduct annual inventory.
- Maintain Public Service Desk efficiency: shelve books, clean surfaces, answer phones, check voice mail messages, process transactions, resolve equipment issues, and ensure supplies are stocked.
- Maintain the organization of the staff mail room and the staff lounge.
- Assist patrons with searches and locating library materials.
- Manage library room reservations and print daily room schedule and room cards.
- Set up and rearrange furniture for library events. Return to original setup post-event.
- Gather data for surveys and reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
