What to expect.
The Compensation Manager oversees Sheppard Pratt’s compensation program. Plans, develops and implements compensation programs, policies and procedures to align with Sheppard Pratt’s goals and competitive practices. Responsible for ensuring that compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with internal policies and government regulations. Provides consultation to recruiters and program managers for pay rates and pay equity review. Maintains compensation components of the HRIS and develops reports as requested. Serves as an expert resource to management and employees for all aspects of pay at Sheppard Pratt.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Oversees preparation and maintenance of job descriptions and pay ranges for each position in the organization.
- Monitors effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommends changes that are cost-effective and consistent with compensation trends and corporate objectives.
- Plans and communicates preferred methods and best practices for compensating employees.
- Maintains knowledge of economic conditions, labor market, competitive landscape and other factors related to ensuring the organization provides competitive and reasonable compensation.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, developments, and best practices in compensation administration.
- Develops techniques for compiling, preparing and presenting data.
- Oversees participation in salary surveys and monitors survey data to ensure compensation objectives are achieved.

Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, years and level of related experience.
What we need from you.
- Work requires a Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field; CCP or HRCI/SHRM certification may be substituted for degree. CCP, HRCI or SHRM certification preferred.
- At least 5 years’ compensation analyst experience, preferably in a healthcare environment; must possess:
- excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- comprehensive knowledge of human resource laws, regulations and best practices;
- extensive knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods;
- excellent organizational and time management skills;
- proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software;
- proven attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining data, files and systems.
- Work requires analytical ability sufficient to extract and analyze data from written material, observation and communications, make statistical calculations, develop reports and systems to facilitate efficient decision-making.
- Work requires a high level of interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with management and all levels of employees, present information and deliver training, and explain policies and procedures in sometimes difficult situations .
