General Summary:
Under supervision of the Residential Services Coordinator and direction of the Program Director, prepares and provides nutritious meals for Center residents and maintains cleanliness and safety of facility kitchens, pantries, and dining room according to health code standards.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties:
- Prepares meals for Center residents in accordance with all State Health Department rules and regulations, ensuring that food is prepared, stored, and served at proper temperatures.
- Provides for three meals and light snacks for all residents, seven days a week. In addition, provision is made for special events such as birthday parties and holiday celebrations. Ensures that menu plans are consistent with good nutritional standards and practices and recognize cultural diversity. Ensures provision of special diets to residents with special needs or requests.
- Prepares initial orders for food, supplies and consumables in consultation with the Residential Services Coordinator. Alerts RSC to any irregularities or problems in a timely manner.
- Responsible for cleanliness of kitchens, dining rooms and storage areas, including all food work areas, dietary equipment and non-food contact areas. The refrigerators must be kept clean and in order at all times.
- Reports any equipment malfunction and supply problem to the Residential Services Coordinator immediately. Responsible for stock duty, including matching stock to invoices and putting stock in proper location.
- Interacts with residents, children, staff, vendors, and visitors in a highly professional manner. Helps with coordination of kitchen duties by residents. Responsible for securing the kitchen areas as appropriate.
- Keeps and records an accurate count of meals and snacks consumed by resident and staff.
- Attends staff meetings and contributes to the therapeutic milieu.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- High school graduate or equivalent with a minimum of three years of experience in food service.
- Knowledge of State Health regulations and a current Food Service license.

The pay range for this position is $20.60/hr minimum to $23.34/hr maximum. Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, years and level of related experience.
