What are the responsibilities and job description for the Internship (Outpatient Mental Health Clinics - Frederick OCS) 2025-2026 School Based Counseling/Social Work Fieldwork position at Sheppard Pratt?
Opportunity Summary:
Interns will provide counseling services for students in grade 1- 12 with a mental health diagnosis. Clients receive regular individual, group, and/or family counseling. Interns will co-lead group therapy sessions with a licensed social work or professional counselor as well as provide individual counseling to an assigned caseload. Weekly clinical supervision is provided by LCSW-C or LCPC.
Opportunity time frame:
Internships last either one semester or a full academic year. Applicants are not accepted for Practicum only.
Eligibility requirements:
Advanced year Master’s of Social Work students or Master's of Mental Health Counseling students.
Learning model:
Individual supervision, group consults, clinical review meetings, role play, observations of employees and observation of student.
Student expectations:
- Provide individual, group and family therapy
- Collaboration with school staff
- Work with diverse populations
- Be assigned a minimum caseload of 4-6 students
- Create individualized treatment plans
- Engage in case management and discharge planning
- All interns will receive weekly clinical supervision as well as trainings that employed clinicians receive to enhance learning experience
Student tasks:
- Co-lead group therapy sessions
- Conduct individual and family therapy sessions
- Complete clinical documentation
