What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Safety Manager position at Sheppard Pratt?
General Summary:
- Oversees and maintains all safety measures and safety training of Sheppard Pratt’s drivers and fleet.
- Provides suggestions and support to Transportation Services.
- Ensures compliance with DOT and other regulatory requirements; conducts audits and inspection of staff personal vehicles and organization owned vehicles.
- Oversees and implements accident reduction strategies.
- Works closely with Sheppard Pratt’s Compliance Department and leadership in schools, hospitals and community services to ensure maintenance of vehicles and applicable driver training.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Work requires knowledge of safety management, risk trends analysis; problems and solutions. Records management, and general technical skills that are normally acquired through a H.S. Diploma/GED and (2) years of college/technical school, and/or 5 years of direct job-related experience.
- Work requires management and supervisory experience.
- Work requires a current, valid MD State issued CDL driver’s license as well as a driving record with 3 or fewer points on it at the time of appointment and ongoing thereafter.
- Work requires the ability to work with disabled population.
- Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to work with clients with mental illness.
- Experience using transportation management software required as well as intermediate experience with Microsoft Office.
- Analytical skills sufficient to edit documents, generate reports and logs, create forms, and summarize safety measures.
- Requires attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines, and the ability to concentrate for long periods of time of tasks which may produce a high level of mental/visual fatigue.
- Must have the ability to occasionally lift objects weighing up to 40 lbs.
