What are the responsibilities and job description for the Unit Secretary (Adolescent Male Inpatient Unit-Towson, Full Time) position at Sheppard Pratt?
The Adolescent Male Crisis Stabilization Unit is a 20 bed unit for the multi-disciplinary assessment, evaluation, crisis intervention, and stabilization of adolescent male patients. Discharge planning emphasizes movement to day hospital or outpatient care as soon as the crisis has been stabilized.
As a Unit Secretary you will:
- Perform a variety of clerical and secretarial duties to support the effective operations of the inpatient unit. Representative duties include:
- serving as receptionist and communication source;
- assembling and maintaining active patient charts, patient records, and unit/program files;
- transcribing physicians' orders;
- maintaining timekeeping records of assigned staff; preparing memos, tables, and general correspondence;
- scheduling appointments and meetings;
- collecting and maintaining data;
- ordering supplies;
- running errands throughout Hospital complex.
Requires:
- High School Diploma and at least one year of clerical/secretarial experience, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), KRONOS timekeeping software, and other automated office equipment.
- Must demonstrate interpersonal skills sufficient to exchange factual and confidential information and communicate effectively and courteously with a diverse group of internal and external contacts (patients, families, referring physicians, staff, and vendors).
