We're looking for a talented Sous Chef to join our culinary team and help create unforgettable dining experiences, while also contributing to the overall success of the hotel.


Job Overview:

The Sous Chef is responsible for fostering strong communication between the Front of House and Back of House teams. This role includes providing guidance and training to kitchen staff, assisting with weekly and monthly inventories, and managing purchasing and scheduling tasks. As a leader in the kitchen, the Sous Chef is expected to take initiative, serve as a role model, and demonstrate self-motivation while excelling at multitasking. A professional appearance and a commitment to maintaining a clean, sanitized kitchen are essential. The Sous Chef must thrive in a fast-paced environment, remain organized, and adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for both the Sheraton brand and its franchise. Additionally, they should excel at balancing production and timeliness while ensuring high-quality food presentation and taste.


Kitchen Operations:

  • Supervise and manage kitchen staff to ensure efficient operations, maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
  • Assist in menu planning and recipe development alongside the Executive Chef.


Team Support:

  • Provide guidance, training, and feedback to the kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Address any operational or personnel challenges, ensuring smooth workflow during service hours.


Inventory Management:

  • Oversee inventory control, ensuring proper stock levels and minimizing food waste.
  • Assist with ordering and purchasing ingredients, maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.


Food Quality & Consistency:

  • Ensure all food preparation and plating meet the hotel's standards for taste, quality, and presentation.
  • Monitor food safety and sanitation practices, ensuring compliance with health regulations.


Customer Satisfaction:

  • Ensure guest's special dietary needs or requests are accommodated efficiently and to the highest standards.
  • Work closely with Front of House teams to ensure seamless service and an outstanding dining experience.


Leadership & Staff Management:

  • Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism and maintaining a positive work environment.
  • Assist in creating work schedules and managing labor costs, in line with the hotel's operational needs.


Qualifications:

  • Ability to effectively communicate with kitchen staff, Front of House, and management, ensuring smooth operations and a positive work environment.
  • Proven ability to work well in a team-oriented environment, collaborating with colleagues to achieve high standards of food quality and service.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet the demands of a dynamic kitchen environment.
  • Previous experience in a hotel or high-volume kitchen is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced kitchen, maintaining quality and consistency under pressure.
  • Experience working with Union Local 6 or similar labor organizations is a plus, ensuring compliance with union guidelines and fostering positive employee relations.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
