What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bell Attendant/Van Driver position at Sheraton Madison?
SUMMARY: Responsible for transporting guests to and from the hotel and local attractions as well as assisting guests with recommendations for restaurant and tourist activities. The Bell Attendant is expected to support the front desk operation by assisting guests with luggage and other service-related requests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Greets, escorts incoming hotel guests to rooms, assists with luggage, and offers information pertaining to available services and facilities of hotel, points of interest, and entertainment attractions.
- Explains features of room such as operation of radio, television, and night-lock, and how to place telephone calls.
- Delivers messages and guests requests.
- Drives guests to and from airport, local restaurants, and attractions near the hotel.
- Keeps record of calls for service.
- Delivers packages, suitcases, trunks, and sets up sample rooms.
- Cleans lobby (ashtrays, dry mop, trash, etc.).
- Maintains vehicle cleanliness. Cleans and vacuums inside of vans a minimum of once a day.
- Proper uniform and name tag worn at all times.
- Assists with group tour luggage requirements.
- When approached with a problem, team member will empower himself/herself at all times to assist customer in resolving the problem.
- Interacts with internal and external customers in a positive, professional, and accommodating manner.
- Team members will become resident experts on in-house information along with local information to improve the guest service experience.
- Complies with the Clean as You Go work policy and daily sanitation projects and checklists.
- Complies with all driver safety policies and procedures.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence; Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization.
