What are the responsibilities and job description for the Weight Room Attendant position at Sheridan County YMCA?
POSITION SUMMARY
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the guidance and supervision of the Health & Wellness Director, the Weight Room Attendant is responsible for offering our membership the continuance of quality in facility cleanliness, safety, and service with a strong focus on relationship building.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
All Weight Room Attendants are expected to fulfill the following functions:
- Ensure members follow weight-room guidelines to fulfill the Y mission.
- Orient members to the selectorized strength equipment and cardio machines.
- Perform assigned cleaning and lubrication tasks in the Health & Wellness area and on machines.
- Build effective, authentic relationships with members and help members connect with each other and the Y.
- Answer questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living, within scope of practice.
- Maintain working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide safe and effective information to support members.
In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities, Weight Room Attendant will:
- Attain relevant online trainings through LCDC as assigned by Health & Wellness Director
- Pursue/participate in ongoing continuing education training relevant to required trainings
- Participate in the annual campaign by giving, campaigning or both
- Attend all staff meetings and other required trainings
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to perform all physical demands of the position including leading classes, walking, standing, bending, reaching and lifting.
- Ability to work in a fast or slow-paced environment and switch tasks as new challenges and projects emerge
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 17 years of age.
- Alarm/Emergency Procedures training within 90 days of hire and annually thereafter.
- CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention within 90 days of hire and biannually thereafter.
- New Employee Orientation within 90 days of hire.
