- Collaborates with the administration to develop the master schedule.
- Collect recruitment material from colleges and universities and make this available to students.
- Meet individually with students, complete a written post-high school plan, and credit audits with each student during these meetings.
- Conduct annual college and career fairs.
- Participates in local college fairs.
- Train and support the implementation of Xello and I.C. College and career planning components.
- Assist parents and students with the completion of the FAFSA/CASFA.
- Assist students with the completion and submission of college and trade school applications.
- Develop and implement plans to celebrate students achieving academic recognition and success.
- Remain visible to students, teachers, and parents as an advocate for higher education and success for all students.
- Coordinates post-secondary (Colleges, Trades, Military) visits to the school and their facilities
- Establishes and maintains college counseling web information.
- Directs communication via newsletters, information packets, phone, and e-mail with students and families.

The College and Career Counselor serves the students and families by providing assistance that focuses on the major aspects of career counseling and the college/trade planning/placement process. The College and Career Counselor works in coordination with students members of the faculty, and staff as well as with the school Administration, district, and partners to assist students in discovering their strengths and interests, exploring career alternatives, academic college preparation, meeting both graduation and college acceptance requirements, college/trade searches, school and financial aid application, scholarships searches, testing, recommendations, and transition to college/trade or the workforce.

Generally the job requires sitting, walking, standing and the ability to travel between and amongst various buildings in the district.
CLEARANCE:
Must clear background check through the CBI and the FBI through Fingerprint submission.
SALARY:
Placement on Licensed Teacher salary schedule based upon previous teaching experience and highest degree and college credits earned after student teaching was completed. Current Board approved Licensed Teacher Salary Schedule, Salary Placement Policy, and Master Agreement are available forreview on our district website atwww.ssd2.org. Highest initial step placement on the Licensed Salary Schedule is Step 9.
