Job Summary:
The primary function of this position is to operate and keep supplied a machine that gathers individual signatures (sigs) into a correctly sequenced book ready for the binding operation.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Read job tickets and follow instructions.
- Promptly, at start of shift, review work schedule, and check equipment and supplies required to perform the work scheduled and prepare for operations.
- Set up, adjust, tend, and/oversee the gathering machine.
- Break down stacks, stage sigs ready for use on the gatherer.
- Stage stacks of sigs and insert sigs into appropriate pockets (collate) to be gathered into a book.
- Monitor and tend the operation of the machine.
- At end of shift, secure all equipment and machinery, and complete all required paperwork.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age (16 years part time. Distributions only).
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to this position and to the safety regulations.
- Ability to use, or learn to use, the equipment and tools used to perform this job.
- Ability to perform all of the job functions safely.
- Ability to meet the company performance standards for the job.
- 20/20 vision, or 20/20 corrected vision.
