What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sheet Fed Press Operator - night shift position at Sheridan?
Sheridan is seeking an experienced, dedicated and detail-oriented Sheet Fed Press Operator to join our dynamic team at our Brainerd, MN facility. In this vital role, you will be a key player on our 3rd shift being responsible for the set up and operation of multi-color sheet fed printing press.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Set up, adjust, operate and maintain a multi-color offset press to print multi-color work with critical color values and registration requirements ranging from hairline to critical.
- Perform all make-ready tasks associated with the type of press operated such as reviewing the job ticket and instructions verifying correct substrate, bind type, ink color, run lengths.
- Prepare key production data and records for all jobs, accurately completing paperwork as required, coordinating with supervisors regarding production issues.
- Complete quality checks throughout the printing process, while ensuring productions times are met or exceeded.
- Perform routine inspections and equipment housekeeping.
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Three years on similar equipment, graphic arts and/or technical school background.
- Three years of printing experience.
- Demonstrated skills in a wide-variety of complex manipulations and mechanical procedures to perform a variety of tasks to set-up, make major adjustments, and perform routine maintenance and minor repairs of equipment.
- Thorough knowledge of color measuring tools such as spectrophotometer and in-press ink control.
- Understand substrate - weights, PPI, size, grain direction, coating, marking and storage.
- Basic math skills, ability to use a measuring device, understanding of color theory and its impact on daily operations.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, problem solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand/work 12 hours with overtime hours as needed.
- Able to safely climb and descend stairs.
- Able to distinguish colors accurately.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.
- Hearing protection and safety toe shoes required.
