Job Summary:
The Sheetfed First Press Operator will manage the print process and crew. This position is responsible for the set up and operation of Press equipment (8-unit Komori w/UV coater) to customer-supplied specifications, while maintaining production by planning and organizing jobs and continuously monitoring quality. Additionally, operators are responsible for cleanliness and keeping the press maintained mechanically through preventative maintenance procedures.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Plans and organizes the job by reviewing schedule and job ticket, identifying priorities, assigning roles, and maintaining production records.
- Monitors quality of product produced.
- Maintains register and compensation, identifying and correcting any issues on press.
- Efficiently operates equipment with tasks that include press computers, units, and auxiliary equipment.
- Keeps work area clean and safe.
- Trains new hires on the sheetfed press operation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required
- Ability to match the supplied color proof or pantone book.
- Ability to utilize the computer to ensure quality of product.
- Good communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Previous experience as a Sheetfed Operator.
- Ability to accurately identify color defects on product.
- Basic mechanical aptitude.
Desired Skills and Abilities:
- Two years in trade on similar equipment
- Graphic arts and/or Technical school background beneficial
Physical Requirements
Work is performed in a factory environment with regular exposure to dust, dirt, noise, and the physical hazards of machinery, plus some exposure to fumes, oils, lubricants, and chemicals
- Safety toe shoes
- Hearing protection
- Ability to lift 40lbs. on a regular basis
- Prolonged periods of standing – 12-hour shifts on a 3 day/4 day work week rotation
- Overtime as needed
