Job Summary:
Sheridan is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our dynamic team at our Liberty, MO facility. In this vital role, you will play a key part in the preparation and shipment of customer samples, components, and finished products, primarily utilizing carriers like FedEx, UPS, USPS, and others. Your organizational skills and attention to detail will help us maintain our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
Duties/Responsibilities:

- Interpret and adhere to specifications provided on job jackets and auxiliary forms to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
- Guarantee timely and budget-conscious shipment of jobs, ensuring they reach clients as promised.
- Communicate proactively with team members and supervisors, ensuring everyone is informed of relevant updates and any issues that arise.
- Employ effective packing and shipping methods to maintain product integrity and quality during transit.
- Optimize work efficiency by maintaining a tidy workspace and assisting colleagues when needed.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and report material needs timely to your supervisor.
- Document time, materials, and counts accurately in our computer system, ensuring that all labeling and shipment instructions are precise.
- Operate vehicles and equipment safely, assisting in the loading and unloading processes.
- Verify shipment counts accurately, identifying and resolving any discrepancies between shipping documentation and actual shipments.
- Foster a culture of safety by adhering to established practices regarding lifting, chemical handling, and equipment usage.
- Exemplify the highest standards of ethics and professionalism in all internal and external interactions.
- Manage and oversee customer inventory and overs, ensuring precise record-keeping.
Basic Qualifications:
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain detailed files and documentation.
- Familiarity with small hand tools and equipment, as well as proficiency in operating scales and metering machines.
- Experience in shipping duties, including verifying goods against shipping documents, packing shipments accurately, and preparing bills of lading.
- Skills in receiving materials, including unpacking, verifying against packing slips, and routing materials to appropriate destinations.
Desired Skills and Abilities:
- Previous industry experience preferred.
- Forklift operation experience may be required.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical capabilities to exert between 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently to move materials as needed.
Hours and Compensation:
- Hours: This position requires full-time availability. Standard working hours are 3:00PM – 11:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime required based on production needs.
- Compensation: Compensation for this position is competitive and based on experience. Benefits include healthcare, retirement plans, paid time off, paid holidays and referral bonuses. The exact pay rate will be discussed during the interview process.
