Job Summary:
This position is responsible for leading daily operations, such as preparing and/or reviewing various general ledger entries, account and bank reconciliations. This position will maintain the general ledger system and accounts, provide assistance in preparing monthly and annual financial statements, and required regulatory reports as needed.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs general accounting and other related duties in the accounting department.
- Prepares investment and trust account entries and analysis.
- Assists with the monthly and annual closings, meeting timelines and deadlines timely.
- Reviews and analyzes balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
- Maintains the general ledger and other reporting systems.
- Sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
- Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
- Coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software system; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
- Monitors cash flows and forecasting cash.
- Assists with Liability insurance renewals.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Proficient with accounting software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
- 2 years of accounting experience required.
- Experience working with external auditors, internal controls and compliance-related issues.
- Knowledge and understanding of GAAP and current accounting and tax principles.
