We are currently seeking an experienced tax professional to assume ownership of a wide range of tax compliance responsibilities. The tax professional should have strong foundational skills in the U.S. federal taxation of partnerships and S-corporations as well as be a self-starter: motivated to complete tasks, research technical issues, and seek assistance from peers. State and local experience is a plus. The tax professional will receive personalized training and be provided with the resources necessary to achieve success.
- Work in a team environment to ensure accurate and timely completion of all Federal and State tax filings.
- Gather and analyze accounting data for appropriate tax treatment.
- Prepare interim and year-end tax workpapers including Schedule M support, tax group combinations, and state apportionment data.
- Track partnership, partner, and shareholder tax basis.
- Prepare quarterly estimated income tax payments.
- Prepare federal, state, and local income, franchise, and property tax returns.
- Research technical tax issues and compose memorandums to document analysis.
- Assist with responding to tax authority requests and examinations.
- Elevate oneself to become a “Subject Matter Expert” on assigned tax topics.
- Assist with various special projects.
- CPA or CPA candidate with Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (advanced degree in Taxation preferable).
- Minimum of 1 – 3 years tax compliance experience.
- Strong foundation in U.S. federal taxation of partnerships and/or S-corporations; State and local experience is a plus.
- Excellent problem solving, organizational and communication skills (written and oral).
- Strong work paper preparation skills and ability to analyze general ledger accounts to produce timely and accurate records with appropriate supporting documentation.
- Proficiency with on-line tax research software (RIA & BNA) and CCH Axcess tax preparation software.
- Sophisticated excel capabilities.
- Very detail oriented and able to function in a fast-paced environment with the ability to take initiative.
- Preparation of tax and information returns for companies dealing or invested in financial products, banking, and/or private equity
- Debt/equity analysis
- Capital raise and divestiture transactions including §§ 707, 754, and 704 computations and disclosure;
- Maintenance of §§743 and 734 adjustments during hold periods; and/or
- Schedule K-1 disclosures pertaining to high-net worth individuals including §§1411 net investment income tax footnotes, 465 at risk footnotes, 469 material participation groupings, etc.
