What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Classroom Paraprofessional TK-12 position at Sherman Thomas Charter Schools?
This person will be working with students in an instructional aid capacity. Portions of the day could involve working with special needs students who have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or 504 Plan. They will provide support to the instructional program and assist in the supervision, care and instruction of all students, which could include special needs students, in the classroom; assisting in implementing plans for instruction; monitoring student behavior during non-classroom time; providing information to appropriate school personnel; and attending IEP meetings as needed, all while maintaining confidentiality. Job Duties/Essential Job Functions: - Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives - Administers tests, homework, make-up work for purpose of supporting teachers in the classroom - Provide individual assistance to students experiencing learning difficulty; explain errors, answer questions, assist in research, clarify directions - Assist teacher with students who have behavioral, physical, language, and learning disabilities for the purpose of maximizing opportunities for student learning - Attend meetings and in-service presentations (e.g. first aid, CPR, emergency procedures, etc.) for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions - Communicates with supervising instructional staff.
