At this time, we are looking for an Engineering Technician to join us. In this role, you’ll work with several of the best-known Fortune 100 companies on innovative technologies and products.

About this Role
As an Engineering Technician your focus will be collaborating with our team of Internal ME, EE, and production teams providing devices, assembly and test equipment, and tools to support next generation solutions for the AR/VR, consumer products, Defense, and many other industries.
The work is varied, can be fast paced at times, and rarely the same here at Sherpa. We anticipate more responsibility and advanced duties as you progress within our team. This position requires you to be in our facility with the equipment and fellow colleagues.
Basic Qualifications
- Attention to detail and a drive to produce high quality work
- Good communication skills and able to manage schedule
- Able to read and understand mechanical and/or electrical drawings
- Mechanically inclined and curious about how things work
- Able to effectively work with a multidisciplinary development team
- Able to use common hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment (drills, saws)
- Able to coordinate with multiple vendors or suppliers for parts, fasteners, outside processes
- Creative and likes to solve challenging problems
Technical Competencies and daily duties
- Ability to use 3D CAD tools (NX or SolidWorks preferred) for modeling and drafting
- Associates or Tech degree, -OR- 6 years in relevant industry role acceptable
- Experience building or repairing consumer electronic devices; comfortable working with electronic devices, boards, sensors, wiring harnesses. Soldering skills an added bonus
- Experience designing and building various fixtures for mechanical and electrical assembly or test
- Experience assembling mechanical prototypes, sub-assembly kits, machines and equipment
- Experience preparing CAD models for print or laser cutting, setting up 3D Printers, setting up and running laser cutters, and post processing parts from a 3D Printer highly desirable
- Familiar with working in a machine shop type environment

- Self-driven learner able to grasp complex computer/math/software concepts quickly
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word) needed
- Creative and likes to solve challenging problems on time
- Good communication skills, both written and oral
- Self-starter who takes initiative and manages their schedule to align with production schedules and department needs
- Works well in a team environment and thrives on collaboration
- Knowledge seeker looking to expand skillset
